President's message

Dear GAMT members

It is my great pleasure to take the role of GAMT president for 2019-2020. I thank our current board of trustees and senior leaders for putting their trust in me and our team. We will work with keeping GAMT’s overall mission in mind – “to preserve our rich tradition and heritage by strengthening and promoting our culture and festivals. “

We are looking forward to continuing our major events including two summer picnics, the famous Zalak Dikhalaja, middle Tennessee’s popular Garba events, and year-end Diwali Dinner event. As our community grows, we are expecting more people to attend Garba, thanks to our very open and welcoming policy. Our committee is dedicated to making our Navratri events memorable and fun as we have done for many years in the past.

As our new committee plans for this year's events, we will be participating in community service. Community service involvement is important as volunteering teaches everyone, compassion, and understanding. There are many opportunities to improve and leave our GAMT’s mark on middle Tennessee and global communities. Some of the services include clothes drive for Homeless, food drive for the second Harvest, Blood donation camp by American Red Cross and community fundraiser as we did in 2018 for Kerala flood victims’ relief. GAMT now has many medical providers, which will help us in possibly organizing a FREE HEALTH CAMP for the community. We will be reaching out to you all in hopes that you will also help us with these new programs.

We will also be collaborating with other Indian organizations such as IAN, KPS, GCA, 42 Samaj of Tennessee, BAPS, Sri Ganesha Temple and others to enhance the quality of our programs, to offer additional cultural programs and community services.

Lastly, our committee has also proposed to work with GAMT’S youth. We will work with the teenagers to create a program that they will enjoy, be proud to be a part of, and most importantly remember for a lifetime. The youth is the hope of our future.

I thank our new committee members and their spouses for volunteering their time for the next two years. We will be updating our website with information on our new committee members soon!  Attached is the list of our 2019-2020 GAMT’S committee.

Thank you and Jay Shree Krishna!!
